Venture into new fields

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and why?

Certainly, there’s a skill someone can refine and elaborate on according to their field. Being open to developing your skills helps you discover new aspects not only of yourself but also of the areas where you apply them. Such an attitude helps you progress and improve as a whole person.

As for my skills, they are drawing and writing. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to draw lately, because I’ve focused on writing. I continue to educate myself by reading books on writing and a lot of fiction. Undeniably, the most effective way to improve your writing skills is to write as much as you can every day.

All in all, over the last couple of months, this approach has led me to engage with and learn about scriptwriting. Scriptwriting is a fascinating field of writing. It demands attention to form, meaning, character development within the story, including emotions and actions, and plot construction. There are different methods; you can write from the inside out or the outside in. You can also write from the start to the end of the story, or from the end going backward to the start. The fascinating thing about scriptwriting is that it focuses on action. You can’t describe emotions in a script; you must express them through action, which also comes through the dialogue. Another aspect I like about scriptwriting is that you must be brief; you can’t fill 300-500 pages like a novel. You must choose your words and sentences wisely to tell your story.
