What’s a fear you’ve overcome — and how did you do it?

There are different kinds of fears. The innocent one’s fear snakes, spiders, heights, and so on.
Then, within us, lie serious fears that require immense courage and strength to overcome, because they are deeply rooted in our psyche. Such fears include the angst of commitment, of changing oneself, of being unable to fulfill one’s goals, and of fearing the future. Ah, not to forget death, the fear of death.
As for how to overcome them, well, it’s easier said than done. It surely takes a lot of work, and I may sound monotonous by repeating this word again and again, but patience is the key. Usually, we humans expect quick results, but when it comes to overcoming fears, slow, steady steps are more effective for long-lasting results.
Going into my fear and how I overcame it. What I fear most is failing to achieve my absolutely important goal of building a solid career, so my parents can be proud of me. How I overcame it. I didn’t. I am still working on it, fiercely and with focus.
And what I just noticed while thinking and writing about my fear is that it masks another fear: not being able to please your loved ones, prove your talent, and have it recognized.
But as Marcus Aurelius said, don’t let your fears rule you, because life will pass, and you won’t have truly lived to the fullest.
