Carpe Diem – Seize the Day

What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

Easter was my favorite holiday because it holds special value for us, Greek-Orthodox. Furthermore, we celebrate it by carrying out customs connected to our cultural heritage.

However, you read correctly: it was my favorite for the last 1-2 years it isn’t anymore.

Why isn’t it anymore?I realized we should appreciate every day as special, holy, and gifted. In addition, I think that if we treated every day as a special holiday and the people around us as exceptional, the world and ourselves, firsthand, would be much happier

Underline, I would say we should make the most of it every day, and don’t postpone it to another day.

That’s a beautifully reflective shift in perspective, Vasos. It takes wisdom to move from cherishing a single holiday to honoring every day as its own kind of gift. Your point about not postponing kindness, wonder, or gratitude resonates deeply—it’s a reminder that the “holiday spirit” isn’t tied to a date on the calendar, but to how we choose to see and treat each moment and each person.

And for what it’s worth, Greek Orthodox Easter traditions are indeed rich with meaning—so carrying that reverence into ordinary days feels less like losing a favorite holiday and more like letting it expand into the rest of the year. That’s a beautiful evolution.
