Killing two birds with one stone

How would you improve your community?

Over the past few decades, society and its people have embraced individualism. This, along with other factors, has created a significant gap between the upper class, the middle/working class, and the lower class, with the latter one almost vanishing.

That’s a development we shouldn’t be proud of.

So, what steps can be taken to improve this situation, especially within communities? First, the mindset must change, which is very difficult to achieve. People need to adopt a collectivist approach, understanding that every action impacts the group. We don’t live alone in this world; beyond our families and friends, there are others who are unhappy and facing their own struggles.

I believe one action that could greatly benefit the community and bring people from all walks of life together is participating in events that aim to improve the eco-environment or promote the community itself as a tourist destination.

Using these options is like killing two birds with one stone: first, you change people’s mindset, second, the community’s environment and popularity improve.

This is a concept that I work to instill in the kids at work: leaving work for someone else to do ends up snowballing until the very last person in the line now has all this extra work to do when they only think about themselves. But when they take the time to do the small job it makes life easier for them and their co-workers. I feel this is a similiar thought to living as collective working for the good of all.

Being aware that your actions will eventually impact someone who you have never thought of or meet, would begin a lot of different lines of thought I believe.

    Have an awesome Saturday!
