Pain

Tears are running

unstoppably,

washing away the unbearable pain,

carrying it along

on a distant path

of oblivion,

so that happiness

may return with longing

triumphantly.

What a powerful and moving piece, Vasiliki. The imagery of tears physically ‘washing away’ the pain and carrying it down a ‘path of oblivion’ is just stunning. I love the hopeful turn at the endβ€”that happiness doesn’t just return, but returns ‘triumphantly’ and intertwined with ‘longing.’ It speaks to the resilience of the human heart. Beautifully written.🌷🀝
