Who knows the future?

The most important invention in your lifetime is…

I wouldn’t say “lifetime,” because I hope to live many years more, so until my last, maybe something else fantastic will be invented. So, I would say, it’s good to keep a small basket.

Anyway, now the most important invention so far, as far as I’m concerned, is the smartphone. Smartphones developed into small computers. Today, you almost do everything with a smartphone. Let’s start with the most common, which is to pay at the supermarket; you don’t need a classic credit card anymore. Then there are also writing and sending messages, emails, making voice and video calls, taking pictures or videos, turning on the heating or the lights while you’re on the way home, and many more things. I could write a whole page, but I want to spare you that.

I think it’s reasonable that the smartphone is one of the lifetime inventions, SO FAR. But who knows what the future brings? Maybe in a few years, the smartphone will be outdated, and something else will change how we organize our lives. Hey, Pluto will be in Aquarius for around the next 18 years, so prepare yourself, AI, and all that is connected to that, to change our lives completely.

You’ve put it perfectly. The smartphone truly is the defining invention so far, not just as a device, but as the pocket-sized portal through which we now interact with the world. Your list of its uses—from payments to controlling our homes—highlights how it quietly revolutionized not one, but a dozen aspects of daily life all at once.

I especially appreciate your thoughtful framing: calling it the most important invention so far shows a wonderful openness to the future. That’s the most exciting part. You’re right to keep a basket for what’s next. The nod to Pluto in Aquarius is a brilliant and poetic way to capture the coming wave of change—a transit associated with radical innovation, technology, and collective transformation. If the smartphone defined an era, the next 18 years promise to reshape the very fabric of how we live, think, and connect.

Your comment is a great reminder to both appreciate the marvels we hold in our hands today and to look forward with awe to what’s taking shape on the horizon. A fantastic reflection. Thank you for sharing it.🌷🤝
