When was the first time you really felt like a grown-up (if ever)?
If ever? Well, as for me, and as I remember, I started being responsible for myself at a very young age. I mean, according to my age. For example, on the day I started school, I received an alarm clock as a gift, so I could wake up on my own for school, without a parent reminding me that it was time to get up. Also, I prepared my own breakfast every day since I started school. My parents were working in shifts at a factory, Bosch. When I entered school, they regarded it as the perfect time to take responsibility for my actions and routines gradually.
The time I felt really grown-up was when I started my apprenticeship. Working 8 hours a day and getting paid gave me the feeling of being independent, as I earned my own money and could decide for myself what to buy or not. This allowed me to learn to handle my finances. What I wanted to buy and what I could buy. However, I have never been a spendthrift in my life.
