How would you design the city of the future?
First of all, in my imagined future city, cars won’t exist, but only public, eco-friendly transportation. Cars wouldn’t be needed because everything would be easily reachable. Bikes, of course, are allowed; therefore, there would be many wide bicycle paths.
Skyscrapers would be forbidden; the highest buildings would be limited to three stories, and official buildings would be designed in neoclassical architecture. Every house would have a small lawn in front and a small garden at the back where people can grow their veggies.
Super big malls wouldn’t exist; instead, small shop stores where the customer isn’t just a number but someone you can build a trusted sales-customer relationship with, who knows, even become friends.
A lot of parks with artificial ponds would exist, as well as playgrounds for children, and nearby cafeterias where parents can have their coffee, tea, or whatever. Generally, my future town would have a lot of greenery.
I think that’s a good start for a design to create your eco-friendly city, since this would be the slogan of the town. Be Eco.
