A Conversation with Love

Published by

on

Once, I asked Love.

Why do you hate me?

It returned, surprised:

My poor dear, why this kind of question?

I answered, you never do comfort

my tortured heart and soul.

And Love responded:

I torment your spirits

to get you prepared,

so you can embrace

when true Love arrives

at the threshold of your heart.

But why Love

I have to go through so much pain

and suffer on the verge of going insane?

My sweet child, when one easily obtains

his wild, fervent desires,

quick, he will get tired of his desired.

Only effort and ordeal

will keep you safe from your unruly zeal.

Be patient; soon, you will see

faithful Love is calm and truly deep like a morning ocean sea.

Vaso, your poem feels like a heartfelt dialogue with something both elusive and essential.

Only effort and ordeal / will keep you safe from your unruly zeal

… there’s such bittersweet wisdom in that.

    Simply terrific.

    Much love,
    David
