Be social – Be cautious

How do you use social media?

Well, I’m active on a lot of social media apps, they are:

1. WordPress, Medium, Substack, Wattpad, Tumblr, Telegram, Pinterest,

2.Facebook, Instagram, X

3.TikTok, Spotify, YouTube

I use Group 1 exclusively to publish everything I write and get inspired by reading other people’s work.

Group 2 is for uploading my writing work, and also for personal pleasure, or calling it a waste of time. For example, I scroll through what is happening worldwide, be it news or the yellow press.

Group 3 is solely for my pleasure and fun. I use TikTok to get info about new C-dramas, spoilers about current airing C-dramas, etc. Regarding Spotify, I currently use it to listen to music, but soon, I will use the creators’ platform to publish my podcasts, which I’m now preparing. Lastly, YouTube is an exception in this group; I’m not utilizing it only for pleasure but to learn about Astrology. So, I would say it’s a pleasurable, fun tool for learning, in my case.

And there are, of course, Gmail, Hotmail, WhatsApp, and Viber; these apps help me to communicate with others and be reachable.

By the way, lately, I’ve seriously considered deleting my Instagram account; I have the impression that it is not very helpful.

Generally speaking, there are a lot of social media apps, calling it positive or negative, society’s progress has made it difficult for us to avoid completely using them, be it for work-related reasons, connecting with beloved people and friends who live far away from us, or just for pleasure. Well, the last reason, for pleasure, is a point that we should try to have considerable control over.

I keep IG and TikTok, though I cut down my use of TikTok. There are times I’ve been left out of the loop of family information for not being on Facebook, but other than that I don’t feel its loss at all. I still miss MySpace, which was much better about helping people make new connections than most other social media. 🙂
