Have you ever performed on stage or given a speech?
Between the ages of 7 and 15, I was a member of a folklore dance group. We regularly performed at various festivities, celebrations, and festivals. The club’s name was, translated, “Pontian Club of Reutlingen.” Our ancestors, the Pontic Greeks, came from the Black Sea, and in the 20th century, they moved over to Greece; the big wave of movement was after World War I with the population exchange between Greece and Turkey.
I also gave a speech at my university during a colloquium in front of my fellow students and my professors in the German department. I had presented my final thesis for my master’s degree. We were required to make a presentation of our final work; otherwise, we couldn’t graduate. The theme of my magister thesis was “Ancient Heroes in Contemporary Literature Texts: Demythization Strategies.”
