Actually a Baker

What are your family’s top 3 favorite meals?

First of all, I want to clarify that I’m not the cook in the family but my mother. I’m responsible for the bakery section; I’m a baking freak. I make bread, cakes, brioche buns, and many more things with yeast dough.

Now, let’s move to our family’s top 3 favorite meals; these are:

1.Mousaka

My mother doesn’t make it very often because it’s very time-consuming. The primary reason is that I wouldn’t call it very healthy. To prepare this dish you have to fry the slices of potatoes and eggplants.  In a baking pan, you spread the layers, first potatoes, then the Bolognese sauce, then the eggplants, and then the bechamel sauce. And then cook it in the oven.

2.Braised red cabbage

This is my mum’s favorite. She makes it with a splash of vinegar and balsamic. She usually makes it as a side dish to meat.

3.Chickpea Soup

That’s my favorite, after Pastitsio. Of all soups, I like chickpea soup because it’s healthy and perfect for winter.

Mousaka and Pastitsio are very similar in their preparation. The difference is that Pastitsio is made with macaroni. 🙂
