What’s something you believe everyone should know.
Since religion was established, it has profoundly impacted and still greatly affects how we think and live. Looking back on history, we see how religions and their institutions shaped, dictated and directed people’s lives, the cultural scene, and history itself. Think only of the Dark Ages of the Inquisition, the wars in which people were killed in the name of God, or the imposed politics and trade with the letters of indulgence. Moreover, over the years, religion has also fostered divisions between dissenters andΒ people of other faiths and ethnicities.
But if we look at and read the scriptures and what prophets, saints, and other saints (according to the religion) taught, we can realize that religious constitutions and authorities often intentionally misinterpret the scriptures to misuse the believers.
And unfortunately, despite all progress and evolution, this is still happening nowadays. Not to the degree it once was, but it still happens.
So, everyone should know that religion, in its plurality, should unite all people worldwide. Religion should cultivate respect for diversity and teach how to embrace it. Religion should seed peace and not war.
