Tell me a joke

What brings a tear of joy to your eye?

Sometimes, you laugh tears at a funeral but tears of sorrow at a wedding. It sounds weird, but it can happen. I’ve experienced that. It’s an out-of-the-box reaction but a genuine one.

Now, what brings a tear of joy to my eye?

Jokes, good jokes, where I can laugh hard, loudly until tears run down my cheeks of joy.

Unfortunately, good jokes have become very rare nowadays.

Here’s a good joke, not one to burst out in tears. It’s an ironic one—another kind of joke I like very much.

I thought I was alone in sometimes feeling the urge to laugh at funerals ~ until I started my WordPress reading, and discovered the surprising frequency of this phenomenon. It isn’t any urge to mockery, or even feeling of comicality, which, for me, gives rise to it, but more a completely delighted feeling. I’ve come to think we’re picking up on the departing spirit’s ecstatic release…

Maybe, the joy, or how should I better call it, the pleasantness of leaving this world.
