Hurting Phrases

What is a word you feel that too many people use?

Letters make words, and words make phrases. To answer this question, I will focus on phrases.

Now, which phrase do I feel is overly overused?

There are two phrases; the first one is „I Love You, “ and the second one is „I’m Sorry.”

I have the impression that nowadays, people interpret these phrases too shallowly, missing the deeper meaning.

Love is a feeling that comes from deep inside; love is accepting the other person’s virtues and flaws. This means you must know the other person deeply. So, you can’t say after a few weeks: Oooh, I Love You.

As for the other phrase, „I’m Sorry, “ from my point of view, it’s also said too easily and quickly, without really regretting your mistake. The reason, of course, is that you want to calm down the other person so you can continue unhurriedly with your life until you annoy that person again and say „I’m Sorry” again. And so on and so on.

But back to the phrase „I Love you.” Do you remember the movie with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, „Ghost”? Swayze played Sam, and he never said to Molly, played by Demi Moore, I love you. When she always told him, „I Love You”, he responded with „Ditto.” The first time Sam told her „I Love You” was after death, when his ghost entered Oda Mae’s body, played by Whoopi Goldberg. Molly, of course, didn’t believe him.

This example is the other side of the coin: people who don’t say „I Love You” or fail to say it at the right moment.

In conclusion, we must handle our words and phrases with care. They have the power to inspire hope or false hope, to cause deep wounds, profound wounds, and to leave a lasting memory of them in the hearts and minds.
