Pastitsio

Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?

The food that reminds me of my childhood and is my all-time favorite is Pastitsio.

My mother usually made that dish on Sundays when all the family members gathered around the table. These were typical Sundays when you hung around and did nothing or played just to kill time, thinking about nothing crucial, only school, since you hadn’t had that severe trouble like later when you became an adult.

Pastitsio is like Lasagna, but the difference is that you are using long macaroni pasta. Apart from that, you follow the same steps as you prepare Lasagna, which means one layer of macaroni, then cooked minced meat, again macaroni, and finally béchamel sauce. And put it in the oven—bon appetite.

This looks delicious! I made a vegan mousakka last week and remembered how good bechamel is. 🙂
