You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?
For years, I have wanted to visit the Island of Tinos. Tinos holds a special place in my heart. I’ve already been there twice, for a pilgrimage to the holy church of Evangelistria of Tinos. I remember, before I visited the church for the first time, a colleague told me that when you visit, you will feel the urge to return again and again. He was absolutely right.
I’ve made many pilgrimages to different churches and monasteries, but on Tinos, I felt something special, a genuine spiritual connection with God.
Since I live in northern Greece and Tinos is in the Aegean part of the Cyclades Islands, I first need to fly to Athens. From Athens, Piraeus port, I will take a ship to Tinos. This makes for a two-day trip to Tinos, as I need to stay overnight in Athens before catching the ship the next morning. It’s practically a cross-country journey.
I hope this summer I can fulfill my wish to make my pilgrimage to the Island of Tinos.
