Greatest Teacher

What is the last thing you learned?

Oh, that happened relatively recently! It was last week that I realized something very clear. After witnessing what is happening around the world and seeing what people I know are posting on Facebook. From people I went to University with, specifically. I came to the conclusion that no matter how many University or Academic degrees someone collects, it doesn’t guarantee that they will also be a wise or good person. Or understand better what is going on in the world.

The greatest teacher is life itself. A person living somewhere in the remotest village can be more insightful and human than someone with an academic background and a Dr. title.

For all that, I would recommend enjoying life, staying open, paying attention to the small things, and continuing to educate yourself by reading many books. That is the best University you could ever go to.

That’s a powerful and beautifully simple observation. It’s easy to confuse formal education with wisdom, but you’re right—they are not the same thing. Degrees can open doors, but they don’t automatically open minds. Life experience, empathy, and genuine curiosity are what truly shape insight and character. Your reminder to stay open and keep learning—through books, people, and the small moments—is one worth holding onto.
