Give it a try!

If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?

I remember my apprenticeship, when I had a boss, I would characterize him as a traditional one. He was, in a way, very strict but also kind, and interested in his employees, I mean, about their well-being, if we had a good time over the weekend, or how our holidays had been, etc.

I recall a phrase he used to say, “There’s no I can’t do it, only I don’t want.”

These words stayed close to me over the passing years. Recalling them every time I set goals and wanted to achieve something.

For that, I would erase from general usage the phrase “I can’t do it.”

Why?

Well, if you have to fulfill a task, an aim, be it at work or personal, and you say at the very start, “I can’t do it,” then how will you progress in life? Exceeding your boundaries, refining and broadening your skills, and developing in life?

So don’t say “I can’t do it”; better say “I will try to do it.” At least give it a try!
