Book Lover Girl

If you could un-invent something, what would it be?

Well, that thing I would un-invent is one I don’t use.

For example, I’m a fervent reader, but I’m very classical, by which I don’t mean classic literature, which I started to read recently. However, I mean by that the way of reading.

I like to hold the book I read in my hands; I love the smell of paper; I like to turn the pages and browse through the book, the sound the paper makes. I want to see the words with my naked eye and follow them with my finger through sentences and paragraphs. Moreover, when it hooks me, and it delivers interesting information, I underline parts and make annotations. I love the body of the book and put it on my bookshelf, looking with pride at the books on it.

So, what would I un-invent? – Audiobooks. I don’t like them. Why? I think everything I mentioned above makes it clear why. Ok, some people may find them convenient, especially if they don’t have enough time to sit down and read; to save time, they listen to them. But for me, that’s not the essence of reading a book. I love the classical method of sitting down and doing everything I have aforesaid.

I can put it that way: I have a very obsessive, intimate relationship with books. I’m just BOOK LOVER GIRL!
