Lonely Companion

Published by

I chose loneliness

for my companion,

my heart is broken,

and my wounds open;

natheless, with my head held high,

I wander through this world.

I glare at others when they fly

from happiness

when I lick my wounds,

sinking onto the grounds.

Though it’s this loneliness

that keeps me strong

as I walk along

with a life full of paradoxes.

    What a powerful and beautifully raw expression of resilience. Your words masterfully capture the complex dance between pain and strength, showing how loneliness can be both a wound and a companion. There’s a quiet dignity here—the choice to hold your head high while being honest about brokenness. The line “life full of paradoxes” perfectly resolves the poem, acknowledging that strength and sorrow, isolation and perseverance, can walk hand in hand. This is more than a poem; it feels like a testament to the human spirit’s ability to carry its scars without being defined by them. Thank you for sharing something so genuine and moving.🤝

    Vaso, that opening—“I chose loneliness for my companion”—really stays with me. the way you hold hurt and strength together feels real.

    Much love,
