What’s the trait you value most about yourself?
PATIENCE! Not that I always had a mountain of patience, no, the contrary. When I was young, I was aggressive, not in a violent way, more that I couldn’t wait for things to happen, and so I made quick, wrong decisions.
However, while growing, experiencing defeats and setbacks, making compromises, and learning other life lessons, I built up, brick by brick, the virtue of patience. I realized that wishes and other things don’t happen at the time I want them to, or at all.
In the long run, finally, I can say today that I have an eternal level of patience, to the point where I have almost reached detachment. This may sound weird, but I explained it in this way. I know that if I continue to work morally and persistently on my goals, I will someday reap the rewards. I just fully concentrate on what I am doing. And because I’m focused on the process, I notice that there are moments I have to make adjustments because things don’t always go as planned. Patience emerges as a valuable virtue in these situations. So I make these modifications because I know everything has its reason, and ultimately, the Universe and God will reward me.
