What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?
Well, first of all, we should analyze the term “luxury.” What is luxury?
For someone with millions of dollars in their bank account, luxury has a different dimension than an average earner’s.
For example, a millionaire couldn’t do without his super-duper cruising yacht, whereas the average earner wouldn’t live without his expensive, up-to-date technology smartphone, considering this a luxury. For some, a culinary dinner at a fancy restaurant is a luxury; others demand more, like a World trip and staying at 5-star hotels. So, I would say it depends on personal taste and principles what someone considers as luxury.
However, I think most regard these expensive clothing and car brands (Gucci, Prada, Jaguar, Ferrari) as luxury, with the associated lifestyle promoted on social media.
As for me, I’m not a huge fan of this type of luxury. Luxury for me is my books, and some books can be costly. My dream is to attain the complete historical-critical edition of Goethe’s diaries; there are eight volumes, and the last time I checked, they cost together around 1000 Euros. That’s a lot of money for eight books, so that’s luxury in my eyes.
