The Eternal City

Describe your most ideal day from beginning to end.

It is the month of May, one of my favorite months. It’s not too hot; the atmosphere is perfectly warm. You can sit outside wearing cozy summer clothing and sunbathe without being exposed to the danger of sunstroke.

As I wake up in the eternal city of Rome through the open window, the song of Eros Ramazzotti, “Un Angelo Disteso Al Sole,” approaches my ears. I get ready for breakfast, served on the roof terrace, from where you have a panoramic view of the beautiful city.

I have an authentic Italian cappuccino for breakfast, and since their cups are too small, I have a second one. Together with my cappuccino, I have a big croissant with chocolate filling. Okay, the croissant is French, but hey, I’m in Rome.

After breakfast, I go to Vatican City, to the Sistine Chapel, and spend the time till afternoon enjoying Michelangelo’s remarkable, divine work. For some, it may sound too long, but that’s Michelangelo. Not to forget that, as a good Christian, I detour St. Peter’s Dome to St. Peter’s burial site, the doorkeeper of heaven. Only for that reason, it’s good to demonstrate honors.

Finishing the part of St. Peter, I get the bus to Orange Garden. I take a little stroll, sit on a perfect bench with my book, and wait for the magical moment of the sunset. Then back to the hotel.

For dinner, I go to Cantina e Cucina, one of the recommended restaurants in Rome, and have a superb Spaghetti alle Vongole at Osteria Der Belli accompanied by a perfect wine. Dessert, not to forget the dessert. I have to remind you I am in Italy, and what could be the dessert? Nothing else than Tiramisu.

That’s my incomparable, ideal, unforgettable day. Good Night!

As they say: All roads lead to Rome.
