Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting.
The attraction I would like to visit close to my home, about 12 km away, is the Nestos River. Despite being so close to my house, I haven’t had the opportunity to explore it properly so far. There are hiking routes along the river, and I wish to walk one of these.
More about the Nestos River: It rises in the Rila Mountains in Bulgaria and flows into the Aegean Sea. The river is 243 km long and flows 130 km through Greece. Its delta occupies 550,000 acres, which hosts a variety of habitats and is, therefore, one of the essential wetlands in Greece and Europe. According to the Ramsar Convention, it’s on the List of Wetlands of International Importance. I would also say the Nestos River is a Natural Treasure.
Even the ancient history writer Herodotus mentioned the Nestos RivIanos, a Titan God, and its mother was Tethys, daughter of Titan God Uranus.

The other attraction I would like to visit is a bit further away. It’s in Thessaloniki, and the attractions are the Metro Stations. Now you will think: Metro Stations? Attraction?
Yes, Thessaloniki finally got its Metro working after 30 years. The main reason they waited so long is that they found many archeological finds from the antique and Byzantine periods. Of course, some other factors caused the delay… but anyway.
I wouldn’t call these Metro Stations, but they are more likely Museum Stations. So, I hope to visit these stations very soon to see the archeological exhibition.
