What was your favorite subject in school?
My favorite subject in school was History. I loved it, and because of that, I got good grades in History.
Why I loved and still love History: History is made by humans during a particular period of time when crucial events occurred. Events that impact not only an individual but also a group of people and, beyond that, complete states. Moreover, not only in that period but also in future generations. Isn’t that the reason we read history to understand why we live the way we live now? Also, very important history gives us the opportunity to find true heroes and take them as role models to become better people for our generation. Besides that, I’m convinced history repeats itself, so knowing history can help us avoid past mistakes.
But generally, I love history for the following reason: when you analyze history from a long-time distance, you get to know and understand how people at that time ticked.
The other subject I loved very much is Latin. I’m fond of learning different languages, even dead ones. When I had Latin at school, I had a lot of fun conjugating the verbs and translating the Latin texts; translating automatically taught me not only the language but also a bit of history.
