Who are your favorite artists?
The Dictionary Britannica gives the following definition of the term artist:
1: -a person who creates art
-a person who is skilled at drawing, painting, etc.
2: -a skilled performer, for example, a jazz or trapeze artist or famous singers
and musicians
3: -a person who is very good at something, for example: She’s an artist in her
field, job. OR a scam artist. (The last one sounds weird to me, but when
Britannica says it’s an artist, so let them be.)
Who are my favorite artist?
My favorite singer artist is George Michael. For me, Geroge Michael has the best voice ever and is the only one who could replace Freddie Mercury in the band Queen as he did so when he sang “Somebody to Love” with Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992. Unfortunately, Geroge Michael died too soon; he could have offered us more great songs.
Man, I miss the 90s, music, television, movies, everything was better.
Going to the next artistic field, my favorite actor is Al Pacino, and I guess which role of him I like the most. Yes, Michael Corleone, the Godfather. To my taste, it is the best movie ever, all three parts. They show the value of family, the relationships between family members, and intrigues; and how all this family complexity is embedded in society and politics. Not to forget, Al Pacino, by playing this role, proved what a great actor he is.
Going to the following artistic field writers, my favorite writer is Franz Kafka. I got to know Franz Kafka better during my studies, and I must confess that he enchanted me. I love his way of writing, this blank, cruel reality. But simultaneously, he transfers the reader into an imaginative world, letting him lose himself between reality and fantasy, as in “The Metamorphosis.” I had to write a thesis about “The Letter to His Father.” In that connection, I also read his diaries; it’s fascinating that even reading these diaries, you are not sure if they speak about real happenings or feelings he experienced or if they just imagination like his stories. In that way, he created a myth around his person.
Last, my favorite painter is El Greco, whose real name is Domenikos Theotokopoulos. He was a painter, sculptor, and architect of the Spanish Renaissance. His expressionistic style and developed interpretation of religious matters left his contemporaries speechless. That sounds logical, as he moved in 1577 to Spain, where the Spanish Inquisition had already started to bloom. These are the paintings I like the most, the religious ones. They are very imposing and evoke this religious, sacred devotion inside you.
This is one of my favorite paintings by El Greco
