Luck in misfortune

Write about your most epic baking or cooking fail.

My story is about an epic baking fail. It was when I made brioche bread; it’s not that I made it for the first time. I regularly bake brioche bread, but when I do it, I plan it well because of the ingredients; I use special flour, and the dough needs attention.

Unfortunately, that day, unexpectedly, there was a lot going on, and there was a stressful situation. However, I started making my brioche bread. Everything went well; the dough was perfect and raised very well. I braided the loaves and put them in the baking tins, waiting until the dough was raised again so I could put them in the oven. I have to say again dough was a success; it raised very well and was ready for the oven.

After 10 minutes of baking time, it struck me that I had forgotten to grease the tins. It was too late…… There was nothing much I could do; I just waited for backing time to be over.

Removing the brioche bread from the tins wasn’t fun; I was angry at myself. The brioche bread was a little bit scorched on the outside, but on the inside, it was OK and eatable. I only had to cut off the scorched parts.

Luck in misfortune; at least I could eat some brioche bread and didn’t have to throw it away.

A number of reader responses to this prompt seem to involve bread. Delicate stuff!

Brioche bread is amazing! I’d think it isn’t that easy to get perfect, so congratulations on making is regularly!
