The role of a teacher

Do you see yourself as a leader?

There are different types of leaders or leadership styles, such as democratic, dictatorial, monarchic, and loose-tight styles.

I have been a German Teacher for quite some time, so I can see myself as a leader because a teacher needs the qualities of a leader. He has to show his students how to learn effectively and efficiently. A teacher should widen his students’ horizons, and as a leader, he should know how to choose the right triggers so the spark gets lit inside them and they want to learn more about corresponding topics and the world.

Furthermore, a teacher has to give his students, in addition to the parents, complementary advice on how to behave morally and respect others. Unfortunately, due to society’s progress, the teacher has completely taken over that role because the parents lack interest or time.

As you can see, a teacher fulfills different leading tasks. You may wonder now what kind of teacher I have been. Well, I have been the democratic one mixed with the loose-tight. Every student has a different character, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Therefore, a teacher must be flexible in approaching and setting up the tasks and demands according to every student. Furthermore, a teacher must know how much space he can give his students so they can explore the world of learning on their own. And that is precisely the moment or point where the qualities of a good leader are coming to light.
