Not Ideal but Happy

What does your ideal home look like?

Instead of what it looks like, I would focus on how my dream house feels.

You can have the fanciest, most modern, most luxurious house with all necessary and unnecessary domestic appliances, placed in the best area in your town or even the whole country, but if it doesn’t truly feel like home, all the above is pointless.

So, home should feel like an oasis of peace, especially if you have to share it with others. At home, someone should feel like they can be/show their true self and don’t need to keep secrets or hide something. A feeling of love, respect, and understanding should fill the rooms. If there are house rules, they should be followed and be equal for everyone to avoid the feeling of injustice. Your house, your home, should be a place you will never want to leave. If that’s so, you know you have the perfect home.

As Aristotle mentioned in Politics (Politika), family is the minor shape of a community. Since I connect home with family, I dream of creating the happiest small community. I don’t write ideal; we should be realistic and understand that nothing in the world is ideal or perfect, but we can try to be blessed and happy as much as possible and as often as possible.

Before I was made and kept homeless by detailed targeting, I usually lived in very inexpensive places. It happened several times that a guest would pause at the doorway of, perhaps, a rented room with crooked beams, cracked and scratched windows, several different patches of flooring and scarred miscellaneous rental furniture ~ and say, “What a beautiful space!”

I believe this is what you are talking about about, yes?

Yes, it’s more the feeling of a home than the furnishing.

I completely agree with you; how a home feels is far more important than its appearance. For me, a true home is a place where peace, love, and faith are the foundation. Where you surrounded by those you love and those who love you.

Do I wish I had a bigger and nicer home, Yes? But I am content until the Lord guides me and leads me elsewhere.
