What motivates you?
I can get motivated by an inspiring quote that triggers me to ponder more deeply or by reading an exciting, gripping book that inspires me to write a story or a poem.
These are the printed versions of motivation tools, meaning they go from the eye to the brain, where the process starts, and boom- your motivation gets triggered.
But for me, there is a more direct motivation, a journey that enters from the ear and ends directly in the heart. Guess what?
Listening to music when I listen to music, all my senses and emotions are aroused, especially when the lyrics touch me and express some experiences I have had in my life. Of course, the rhythm of the sound of music is also essential. Generally, when a song profoundly touches me, I get entirely motivated to overcome any hurdles or difficulties, and it pushes me to stay optimistic, progress, and look forward, even though sometimes the song I like is kind of sad.
In the last few days, I have listened to a Greek song whose lyrics depict my emotional state as a child/teenager. How I was, I thought and dreamed. And to be honest, I still have this inner child in me, and this is what helps me with my creative motivation and expression.
The title of the song is “Daydreamer”, performed by Giorgos Sampanis. I have posted the English version of the lyrics.
Daydreamer
By nature I was a daydreaming
child
I was looking for rain in the clouds
I was never afraid of it
and I was in a hurry, waiting for
the sun before it comes out
I was gazing horizons far away
and my heart was the compass in my mind.
Mishap
every mistake is a lesson
every misstep
had a price
Mishap
and lesson after lesson
I was growing taller
I was flying above the earth
Everything brought me to you
lost or won
when trains are delayed
you’ll be my station
lost or won
You’ll have me by your side
dreamy journeys are done only by the bold ones
And as I remained a daydreaming
child
a faulty character that is
always defying logic
as long as I was challenging life itself
I was a winner
and when I was thinking about it twice
happy times became a poison in my heart.
