What profession do you admire most and why?
Let’s have a look at the definition of „admire”:
1. to feel respect or approval for someone or something
2. to look at something or someone with enjoyment

From my personal point of view, I would like to add to the above definition that I admire someone who has (c)abilities and talents that I lack.
The profession I admire most is that of surgeons, specifically neurosurgeons.
Why?
You need a lot of patience and study. To become a surgeon, you need at least 13 years, and a neurosurgeon requires 14-16 years. These are many years, and I think not everyone has the financial resources, or it’s not everyone’s cup of tea to study for so long.
Another reason I have respect for surgeons is that it needs a lot of courage to cut open a person who puts his life in your hands. Furthermore, it requires daring, nerves, and self-control to fumble in one’s organs, and one little, tiny mistake could cost his life.
These are my reasons for admiring surgeons. By the way, I wouldn’t call it a job or a profession but a vocation since a surgeon has to sacrifice everything, both on an entity and personal level, like free time and family, to save lives.
In the end, aren’t surgeons like little Gods on earth, ruling over life and death?
