How do you use social media?
Well, I have accounts for almost all the usual social media apps; when I say nearly, I mean it in the truest sense.
The social media app I use the most is Instagram, where I get information on what is happening worldwide in all areas, from politics to entertainment. Next is Word Press, where I actively try to participate in the daily blog and upload my poems and short stories. In addition, I get inspiration and contact with people worldwide and different cultures. (Life of social media would be boring without you guys!)
I use Facebook to get news about what is happening in my local area and what friends I am not in daily contact with are doing. I also upload some of my writing work there.
Then there is Medium, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Twitter or X (personally, I refuse to call it X); I upload only parts of my writing to these apps.
There is also Wattpad; I post my longer short stories there and read others’ stories to get new ideas.
My latest discovery is Substack. It’s a publishing platform where people from different fields, such as university professors, writers, journalists, etc., upload ideas, work, and newsletters.
The only app I wasn’t fond of was Reddit. Maybe because I didn’t understand how it works.
I know—that sounds like a lot of apps. It is essential to find a balance and not be totally absorbed. But it happens that for some reason, these social media provoke you and trigger a button inside you to write. However, I always keep in mind the genuine essence of why I am writing.
