What books do you want to read?

On the top of my “Reading List” are the diaries of Johan Wolfgang Goethe. I studied German, and as a German student, you can’t get around not having a semester not to talk about Goethe. His spirit always fascinated me; sometimes, he acted like a revolutionist but thought very conservative in some special areas. He’s the German literature genius; 150 Goethe Institutes are named after him worldwide. Well, the complete diary series of Goethe is 10 volumes; now you can see Goethe loved to write. Consider the dozen pieces beside his diaries. I don’t know if getting all 10 books together is possible; moreover, it’s costly. The historical-critical edition, second-hand, costs 1.372 Euros.

The other book I would like to read is “Love and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy. I have watched the movie with Audrey Hepburn and Henry Fonda, but reading the book will be different and unique regarding the point of view of the characters.

Next on my reading list is, maybe even in the 2nd place, “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” by Friedrich Nietzsche. I love Philosophy, and I think Philosophy and Literature depend on each other; they complete and influence each other. Regarding Nietzsche, I consider him one of the greatest philosophers of the 20th century; for me he was ahead of his time.
